Carol Bukant, a 79-year-old Kalamazoo resident, recently transformed a $20 Mega Millions ticket into a life-changing $3 million victory.
By matching all five white balls in the November 14, 2025 drawing—and benefiting from a 3X multiplier—Carol’s ticket soared from a $1 million win to a $3 million prize.
She and her husband, who only play the lottery occasionally, were first stunned by their $1 million windfall before discovering the multiplier had tripled their fortune.
Carol now plans to secure her future by carefully saving her winnings.
This remarkable win comes as Kalamazoo experiences major revitalization, with projects like River’s Edge and Harrison Circle expanding affordable housing and converting former industrial sites into thriving communities.

Portage residents will decide the future of their city’s waste collection in a special election set for May 5, 2026.
The vote follows the City Council’s 2025 approval of a $29 million, five-year contract with Waste Management, naming them as the city’s exclusive provider for trash, recycling, and yard waste.
The proposed single-hauler system has ignited community debate.
Supporters believe consolidating services will save money and limit street damage by reducing the number of garbage trucks.
Meanwhile, opponents fear the plan could remove consumer choice and hurt local waste businesses.
Activists from Take Back the Trash gathered over 4,000 signatures to force the issue onto the ballot.
Now, residents will choose between continuing with the single-provider system or reverting to multiple haulers.
Mayor Patricia Randall stressed the importance of high turnout as the city prepares for this pivotal decision. Read More... |
